Case Study

In this Academii Case Study, we’ll explore how they have used our VR Kits to teach companies about safety through immersive technologies.

Introduction

Academii are an organisation that provide bespoke digital learning solutions to companies across the UK. They’ve used our VR headsets to show 360° videos and training simulations to companies in the energy sector.

Getting to Grips With VR

Academii told us that the implementation of VR has been very straightforward. The rugged form factor of the case suited their needs perfectly and the ability to charge all the headsets at once is something they found a godsend. Also, when Academii faced problems, we did everything we could to fix it quickly by picking up the case, fixing the issues and returning it, all within 3 days.

What have Academii Used the Headsets for?

Academii have been using their headsets to show 360° videos and training simulations predominantly in the energy sector. Their feedback has shown that, through VR, experiences are much more immersive.

When creating simulations for real-world scenarios (like working at height for example) this has been particularly valuable. There’s also nothing quite like soaring through the sky using footage recorded by drones equipped with 360° cameras!

How Have They Found The Technology?

Academii told us they’d definitely recommend us to other businesses. They said that our communication was great and they were kept in the loop throughout the entire process.

They also said they’d had some incredible feedback. One of the most memorable reactions came from someone who said the experience of being a linesman felt so real that they could almost feel the wind and height while working up high on the power lines. They went on to say that this kind of realism helps users gain a better understanding of the demands and challenges of these jobs, and it’s a fantastic way to showcase roles that are typically hard to explain through traditional media.

RedboxVR has enabled us to create immersive experiences and training simulations that allow users to step into the shoes of professionals in various industries.

The ability to both experience these environments and practice critical tasks in advance is invaluable for anyone looking to fully understand the realities and challenges of a role before they step into it.
