The number of immersive Virtual Reality games adapting well known intellectual properties will increase in 2023 when an official Peaky Blinders game is released. Maze Theory, a video game developer based in London, is developing Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom. The game will allow players to step into the shoes of Birmingham’s most infamous gang.
The developer, who has previously created VR games based around the Doctor Who television series, has stressed that they are dedicated to creating an immersive world that will allow players to explore a 1920’s Birmingham and London as well as exploring iconic locales from the show such as The Garrison Pub, Charlie’s Yard and the Shelby’s Betting Shop.
Maze Theory also seem dedicated to being as faithful to the show as possible, with Cillian Murphy and Paul Anderson reprising their roles as Tommy and Arthur Shelby respectively. The story for the game also doesn’t come from the show, it is instead an entirely new story created solely for the game written in collaboration with Peaky Blinders producer and brand owner Caryn Mandabach.
The game is set to be released for both Meta Quest 2 and Pico 4 on March 9th 2023.
