Another company which prides itself on pushing the boundaries of virtual reality technology is Sony. They have recently unveiled their new PlayStation VR2 headset. The headset is expected to give the industry dominating Meta Quest 2 a run for its money.
The design of the headset has been inspired by the PS5 console and will also require one to be used. The headset will not work with a PS4, with Sony now solely focusing on next-gen technology. Sony have said that the headset will offer stunning visual fidelity in 4K HDR and state-of-art graphical rendering, enhanced tracking such as inside-out camera tracking, new PlayStation VR2 Sense Technology features such as headset feedback, and the new, intuitive PS VR2 Sense controller that creates a deep feeling of immersion.
Sony have not yet confirmed a release date for the PlayStation VR2 but there is speculations that Sony is planning an end of year release. According to a recent report from Bloomberg, the expected release window for PlayStation VR 2 is holiday 2022.
