Information regarding Apple’s long awaited mixed reality headset has reportedly been leaked by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Gurman is a tech reporter for Bloomberg who has a long history of accurate insider reporting on Apple’s product plans. With well over a decade of Apple coverage, his reports are closely watched due to their accuracy, and his claims frequently set expectations for upcoming products as they often appear early in the rumour cycles.
According to Gurman, Apple are working on 3 separate models of a mixed reality device which are being developed under the codes ‘N301’, ‘N602’ and ‘N421’. The first – N301 – will apparently be known as the ‘Apple Reality Pro’ which will be a direct competitor to Meta’s incredibly popular Quest 2 and will also most likely give their rumoured Quest Pro headset a run for its money.
N602 will reportedly be a successor to the Apple Reality Pro, maybe as a model sold at a lower price point. We have seen Apple release more budget-friendly models of their products in the past such as the iPhone SE. Lastly, the N421 will apparently be Apple’s augmented reality glasses. However – if what Gurman reports is true – these glasses will not launch for a considerable amount of time.
Apple is rumoured to be officially announcing the launch of their first headset as early as January 2023.
