Imersifi, a cutting-edge Swansea-based business specializing in immersive technology, has received a funding boost to propel its growth.

Capitalising on the uses of VR

Founded by Swansea University graduates Jack Bengeyfield and Joe Charman, both holding master’s degrees in virtual reality, Imersifi has been utilizing virtual reality headsets and software for applications in staff training, simulation, entertainment, and education.

One notable project undertaken by Imersifi was the development of a virtual reality training application for junior cardiovascular doctors at the Swansea Bay University Health Board. Additionally, they collaborated with Rescape Health to create virtual reality simulations for emergency tracheostomy management and bronchoscopy learning, aimed at enhancing hospital patient outcomes through safer practice environments for doctors.

What will the funding do for Imersifi?

The business growth grant, awarded by Swansea Council and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, has facilitated the acquisition of new virtual reality equipment, including headsets, laptops, and computer memory to bolster the graphics required to run the software effectively.

With the new equipment, Imersifi is poised to enhance its virtual reality training services, particularly in areas such as fire safety for workplaces. Jack Bengeyfield expressed gratitude for the council’s support, as it allows them to continue developing their state-of-the-art virtual reality technology, offering employers a flexible and cost-effective means to improve employee skills and knowledge.

Joe Charman emphasized that the new equipment will help Imersifi maintain its position as a leader in the virtual reality training market. It will also contribute to the development of their virtual reality fire safety training product, which will soon include Welsh language options. Moreover, it will support their ongoing research and development endeavours, helping them stand out from competitors, promote business growth, and potentially create job opportunities.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s cabinet member for investment, regeneration, and tourism, praised Imersifi’s innovative approach and emphasized that the council is committed to supporting local businesses. He encouraged all businesses in the city to explore the various funding opportunities and other forms of support available through the council’s website.

Imersifi create cutting-edge bespoke virtual reality applications. Their team of talented immersive software engineers develop advanced solutions for staff training, simulation, entertainment and education. Every experience is built from the ground up, perfectly tailored to your needs.
